The right company.
A healthy company, built by a founder who cares deeply about what happens after the transaction.
I hope to meet owners who care not only about the transaction, but about what happens afterward.
Founders who think about their employees.
Who worry about their customers.
Who hope their company's reputation will continue to grow long after they have stepped away.
Those conversations are rarely only about numbers.
They are about continuity.
About responsibility.
About leaving something in good hands.
The companies I seek are typically established Canadian businesses generating between $2 million and $8 million in EBITDA, with strong operational foundations, committed teams, and meaningful opportunities for long-term growth.
My experience runs deepest in:
- Industrial services
- Manufacturing
- Environmental services
- Aviation-related businesses
These are the sectors where I have spent much of my career and where I believe I can contribute most effectively. At the same time, I remain open to exceptional companies in other industries.
Industries I generally do not pursue
- Restaurants and hospitality
- Retail
- Real estate development
- Construction businesses that are primarily project-based
- Cannabis-related businesses
- Businesses requiring significant ongoing capital expenditures
People sometimes ask how I can look beyond a single industry.
I think of it the same way I think about an accountant.
A great accountant can work in manufacturing, healthcare, or aviation. Not because they are an expert in every industry, but because they are an expert in what they do.
I see the role of a CEO much the same way.
The people who know the business best are already there. My role is not to replace their expertise. It is to bring people together around a shared direction, ask the right questions, make thoughtful decisions, and help the business continue to grow.
Because while industries differ, great businesses tend to share the same qualities.
Integrity. Discipline. Respect for people. And pride in work done well.
